The Story of The Olympic Games

Every four years, we have the festival of Olympic Games in which athletics, individual and team sports are played. Sportsmen and sportswomen feel honored  to take part in them. 
The Olympic Games took place in Greece from 776 BC to 393 AD. They took place as a religious festival at the stadium of Olympia to please the spirits of the dead. They began with with a race on foot and then other sports were introduced.
After the Roman  Empire Conquered Greece, The athletes became interested in  money, So the Emperor banned the competition. 
The stadium was destroyed in an earthquake and was covered with a landslide. In 1875, German archaeologists discovered its ruins. 
A french educator and thinker thought that athletics were important in forming a person's character and that international sports competitions would encourage world peace .
In 1896 the first modern Olympic Games were held in Greece for amateurs only. 
Success at the Olympics became a political question for some countries. Governments trained their athletes from a very early age. This meant that not all the competitors in the Games were amateurs any more. 
Competition led to the problem of drug abuse. Drugs were taken to improve the performance. so athletes were tested for drugs. Athletes were stripped of their medals for using drugs 

The Influence of Modern Life on Heart

the hear is the body's most vital organ. When it stops working, death soon follows. However, many people's hearts are diseased. It os amazing that most cases are cured, thanks to the development of open heart and heart transplant surgery. 
We should do our best to keep our hearts in good condition and not to be liable to any deficiencies. The food we ear is an element that has its effect on the arteries and the heart. Some people believe that eating alot of meat makes them strong and in good health. Proteins contain amino acids which are harmful to the heart and its vessels. They lead to the damage of the lining of these vessels. There is a substance which is formed by proteins. Too much of this substance causes heart diseases. 
Modern life has become very noisy and noise pollution has become a great danger that man faces. There is alot of noise caused by supersonic aircraft , jet engines , discotheques , traffic  and not a few of industrial processes. When people are exposed to levels of noise more than 80 decibels, they risk their health. Such a level causes the small blood vessels. 
Air pollution is another problem the effects the heart. Motor cars, for example, provides the air with carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, lead and other poisonous gases. When a person breathes in too much of  these gases, the supply of oxygen to the blood may be cut off and soon he suffers from headache, sickness and even death . 

The Story of Flying Saucers

On 24 june 1947 a US pilot called Kenneth Arnold Looked out of the window of his plane and saw nine sliver  objects flying close together. they were moving very quickly , Kenneth guessed that their speed was more than 1600 KM an hour . He told journalists that the objects didn't move like planes , bit like saucers move when someone throws them across the surface of water . Later , one of the journalists called the objects " Flying Saucers  " . 

this was the first time the expression "Flying Saucer" was used , but people have been seeing unidentified flying objects UFOs in the sky for centuries . For example in the thirteen century some English farmers saw a flat silver object in the sky . this is surprising because in those days there were no  planes or weather balloons or space stations that could be mistaken for UFOs .

Today , many of UFOs turn out to be something quite ordinary . one evening in February 2001 ,eight colored lights appeared in the sky above Kuala Lumpur , in Malaysia . The light seemed to float for ten  minutes before moving off and disappearing . Many people thought that had been released from a temple . 

Most UFOs can be explained like this . However there are many that can't .surveys show that at least half of us believe intelligent life exists on other planets .
